PLEASE NOTE!

Due to Company Policy, I had to delete all the documents (except the survey forms) I created during our internship for the internship project. Hence I won't be able to share the Zoho Docs we created and uploaded on basecamp (majority of my work) and whatever I share here, I am the owner of the content (only the survey forms).

So sorry for the inconvenience, in case we want to know more about those contents I will be able to share verbally, please reach out for the same,
Thank you!

So, I started off by-
1. Understanding the app
2. Understanding the ongoing and long term company's aims and goals with respect to the "Tickle" app.
3. And then having meetings with our Sir (Founder of the Tickle App)  and 1 of the UX Design Intern there

HOW DID I START?
(this phase and my internship in general)

WORK I DID?
Let's start!

After understanding and exploring the app Tickle, properly understanding the ongoing and long term company's aim and goals and discussing the same with our Sir and 1 UX Design Intern there, I did some more competitor's analysis.

to get in depth idea about-
1. What is already going on in the market
2. Are the users happy with the things already there in the market
3. Are there any gap in terms of the problem the exists and the features available
4. What are the possible things (if any) missing in the current market
5. Are user's expectations met?
6. How is the user experience of our competitors in short (researching on it and my self using it as required)

After getting answers to all the above questions, I documented the same and then started analyzing the same. I started comparing them with Tickle, understanding UX Gaps in the market, and where do we stand.

We now had to understand what users feel about our concept i.e. to make and meet new friends virtually as well as non virtually and which one they are more comfortable with for us to understand in what direction we should properly go in. (initially the user group was not restricted to people from India or USA and nor is it restricted to "dating" only)

Later we also did further competitor's analysis for understanding their packs and packages and understand if users are happy with them to get idea about the current situation packages and user's take on the same.

We had done detailed research on it and created a document different packs with features, their pros and cons and what would be the best packages with features for our users, partners and our business. We had proper discussion on the same.

COMPETITOR'S ANALYSIS

USER SURVEY (SURVEY FORM) &
MARKET SURVEY &
TELEPHONIC USER INTERVIEW &
POLLS

Throughout the internship I created, conducted, analyzed and communicated the same to our Sir (Head of the Project) and to the UX Designers and other UX Researchers in the team, and accordingly took different decisions.

The surveys varied from understanding the users on different aspects like their thoughts on different types of friendships and relationships, which market is best suited for us, what do they feel comfortable with, their expectations, needs, pain points, opinions, surveys to understand the requirements, pain points, opinions and expectations of people we will tie up with and so on.

This was one of the "most done" things I did here.

Coming back to survey 1-
We conducted this survey to understand user's opinions, expectations and pain points on meeting and making new friends for some reason.

So after each discussion when I had to create survey form, Sir used to check the form- This helped me A LOT to make better surveys forms as required to get better responses that can we used by use to improve our product.

So from this survey we understood that-
95.5% of the responses were from Asia majority being male, agreed that they lost touch to some extend with their friends during covid, more than 90% did not meet their friends in a month or two. 84.1% love making new friends but 48% find it difficult making friends- reasons being- being shy, not confident, to being busy. 59.1% says they love making friends by meeting them offline, in social places. -> this gives us a green flag for continuing one of our plan already ideated by our Sir, i.e. to tie up with places like cafe, restaurants, gyms, etc. to let and promote our users to socialize at their place.
However 45.5% do not check and avail deals and offers at cafes, which make us think deeper about the socialising at cafe idea and how to execute it, also we need to take survey on the people we will tie up with (which we did later). Around 85% said they would love to socialise at such places if allowed or if they can which to some extend gives us a green flag for the same idea above.

Getting a little more deeper with the socializing at cafes, gyms, etc plan, the above survey was for know how often do people at a particular location go to such places, do they go with family, friends, alone, etc. are they comfortable initially conversations, and such questions to understand if this idea would work in the current market and where would be possibly work. Responses from India and USA were as majority visit cafe, would love to socialise there but the problem is majority of them was not good at initiating. We need to ideate around the same.

We also had to understand user's take on dating and friendship platforms, their experience, experience and expectations from it, what kind of relationship/friendship they were interested in, their mindset, etc. for us to get a better idea of our user crowd and their expectations and experiences. So the above survey is regarding the same!

I next conducted a market survey on cafe owners, to understand their situation duriing covid, what kind of crou=wd visits their place (like people coming alone, with family, friends, etc.), what kind of deals they give, what kind of deals their customers like, does our idea excite them (sharing our idea), their expectations and pain points, etc.

I conducted this market survey on 15 cafes in Mumbai, India and their responses were mixed kind off. Their economy was impacted badly, people started coming back aftr covid situation but not completely (at the time of survey), say 10/15 liked our idea, would like to be partners.

I conducted this survey in Mumbai, India and our Sir conducted it in USA. Results from USA was better as compared as there number of positive responses were slightly more.

I also had few telephonic user interviews with the cafe owners for the same matter, and with some users to understand their pain points, requirements, opinions in general.

Now during this time our Sir had an idea. Relationships like live in, fwb, etc. is not very common in India as compared to USA. So, he wanted to see how Indian users take these things like, do they support them and if majority does, then this can be some new platform to promote this. Also there are apps for young people to get into relationships but there are no such app yet for divorced people. So we wanted to see would divorced people accept a platform to bring such people closer to be friends or get into a relationship.
Our sir first wanted to focus on the live in and fwb part, so we did that. I conducted both live in and fwb surveys in full power. I came up with a idea to give prizes to one or two lucky winners from the responses. This idea got approved and in total for live in we got 243 responses and 64 for fwb. Before this contest idea also we got like 30 responses. We researched for platforms to take easier surveys and polls and to get responses. However to get meaningful responses we decided that I will only conduct the survey rather than giving it to some platform.

I, with my Sir and later with some of the teammates had the discussion and ideation meet on how to promote our app Tickle. One idea that came up was that we can start organising meets. For people to come and socialize and there we promote our app too. So the above form was to take our entire team's opinion on the same.

The above survey was for us to understand what kind of events/meets our user would prefer and would they attend if organised such an event. If was basically to understand the posibilities of our event being successful and so aur aim from the event if organised.

Apart from this meet idea, we have one more idea. That was to reach out to the admins of facebook groups for dating or single people and there to promote our app. For both the above ideas I had a discussion with one of our HR and then one of our teammates were asked to take the work forward and I continued my UX Research work.

I conducted some in between Surveys (for A/B Test and Taking Opinions) and Polls to help designers, developers and our Sir take better decisions in terms of features, design changes, etc.

HELPING SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM &
DISCUSSIONS WITH THE HR

For promoting our app and get valuable responses, we had several meets. From those meets we had several ideas for which I discussed and helped the respected person/team. The ideas were-

- Organizing fun meets/events for our users and promote our app there. We can also ask them to fill a short survey there as needed. I conveyed the message to the assigned intern.

- Reaching out to such Facebook group admins where there are single/interested in our app kind of people, to promote in their groups. I had a discussion meet where sir wanted to discuss the payments we could provide them. Then this work was shifted to one of my teammates.

- Collecting graphics for some event from the Graphic Designer and creating the meet (partially)

- Discussing ways to promote our app with one of my HRs and discussing about things like campus/brand ambassador program

- Ideating about social media reach, engagement, followers, etc, with the social media team.

- Managing the lucky winner thing on filling live in/fwb surveys

- Sending emails to our users/participants for collecting their videos for one of the content- (to share their opinions on..!) (ask one of my teammates to record the introductory video for them)

EYE TRACKING AND ANALYSING &
ANALYSING ANALYTICS &
UX MODIFICATIONS BASED ON THE ANALYSIS

We (me and one of my team mate) tracked user behavior and started analyzing that and the analytics for our Tickle App on Smartlook and Mixpanel every month and month wise we created document for the same. Also I learnt about Mixpanel and Smartlook from here and I love it!

Each month we created document consisting of what is the analytics and what we should conclude from that, where do we see users behaving differently, noted feedback question we needed from direct users each month and did the same and then after understanding all this, we created the UX Modifications that should be done to rectify the issues.

APP (USABILITY) TESTING

During app testing we (I and one of my teammate) checked for 3 main things-
- If there is any bug in the current app
- If the UX Modifications suggested and approved, implemented or not- and if it is- is it implemented and working properly
- Usability and experience of the current app.

This was done on both android and IOS

After the test we passed on our analysis to our Sir which then went to UX Designers and Developers.

RESEARCHING AND WORKING ON
MAKING THE APP MORE SOCIAL/APPEALING

There was a phase when our sir concentrated also on making the app more social and appealing to attract users and make their experience happier, also keeping our business in mind.

He thus ideated first alone and then with me and one of my teammates and then, me and my teammate started researching on the points we ideated and decided on.

We created a proper document consisting of what we found, how far we think it will be useful for us, how far will it be good for our users in terms of what we provide and their experience, if we keep the features what should be the estimate pricing (after understanding the market and the competitors) and so on.

We then passed on the document to Sir for him to take further steps as needed.
